Relational Therapist in Bath
There are times when our lives can feel unmanageable, overwhelming, or don't seem to make sense. There are times when we all need someone to talk to.

Therapy
There are times when our lives can feel unmanageable, overwhelming or don’t seem to make sense, when we may feel lost with no sense of who we are; there are times when we all need someone to talk to.
As a trainee psychotherapist at BCPC in integrative and humanistic psychotherapy, I work relationally offering a safe, warm and empathic space for you to explore yourself, your feelings and life experiences with me, so that, together and through our relationship, you can make sense of how your life has unfolded, where you are now and what you may want from your life ahead.
I believe that emotional healing requires a holistic approach supporting mind, body and spirit. Many of us lead our lives cut off from our emotions and bodily experiences as well as disconnected from the natural world. The breadth of my training and experience enables me to work in the way that meets your individual needs, forming a unique relationship with every client.
About Marnie
Marnie Kavanagh (formerly known as Marianne Black)
It was the difficulties I was facing in my own life and a compelling desire to understand myself that led me to therapy and then onto training as a psychotherapist. I am deeply committed to my ongoing personal development to further deepen and understand myself. I have my own therapy – which is also a requirement of my training – and undertake spiritual and body-based activities including retreats and group work.
Alongside my private practice, I have worked as a volunteer therapist on the Trauma & Relational Counselling Programme at the Children & Family Centre in Bath and on mental health helplines. I have gained experience with trauma, PTSD, grief, substance misuse, domestic abuse, anxiety disorders, relationship issues, gender identity and neurodiversity challenges including autism and ADHD – and I welcome any struggles you may be facing.
Before training as a therapist, I worked in a range of industries including the legal and charitable sectors and lived overseas in many different cultures. This has given me a breadth of life experience and appreciation of cultural and racial difference. I am interested in working pan-gender and cross-culturally.

I currently charge £40 a session. I reserve a number of client spaces on a sliding scale for those who may not be able to afford these rates as I am committed to access to therapy. Please let me know if this is the case when contacting me.
You can contact me by email on marnietherapy@gmail.com. I offer an introductory first session with no commitment to continue. As our relationship is central to our work together, it is important you can experience what it is like being and talking with me in my therapy space.
I work from a private space in the centre of Bath which is peaceful and secluded. It is a short walk from Bath Abbey in Bathwick at BA2 4DU.
I work with clients on a weekly basis as this supports the relational nature of the work.
I work in-person but can offer on-line sessions when clients are unable to come to their sessions, say when working away or on holiday.
I am a member of UK Council for Psychotherapy as my training provider, the Bath Centre for Counselling and Psychotherapy, is a UKCP approved organisational member. This membership means that I am required to be under supervision and to adhere to UKCP’s ethical and professional code.
